Through the online platform, you’ll also have the opportunity to participate in webinars and live sessions, interact with your instructors and peers, and consult with your academic advisor. What do you need to study at MIU online?
Basic requirements and recommendations to get you started
With three entrance dates per year — in January, May, and September — you have complete flexibility to begin your program whenever is best for you. Here are the basic requirements you’ll need:
- Technological equipment: all you need is a computer, tablet, or phone that connects to the internet. We recommend using a device with a camera and microphone to participate in classes and interactive sessions. Our technical support team is available in case you need assistance.
- Assessments and exams: each course includes self-assessment tets, proctored assignments, and a final exam for you to demonstrate everything you’ve learned. Your final grade will be determined by the average of your scores on the assessments.
- Live classes: some courses offer live classes and sessions adapted to different time zones. However, attendance is optional and they will be recorded so you can watch them whenever you have time.
- Academic calendar: our online programs follow the same calendar as those on campus, so you can organize your study goals each week.

You’ll also have all the support you need to complete your studies successfully:
- Support for online students: make the most of opportunities to speak with your academic advisor and interact with experts through forums and messages. You can also participate in live discussions, ask questions, and enjoy a variety of interactive activities.
- Library access: all campus library services are available to you through the online library.
- Graduate on campus! We strongly encourage you to join our commencement ceremony in Miami. This way, you can finally meet your instructors and fellow students in person. If you are not able to attend, the ceremony will also be streamed online so you can participate virtually.
