Recognition of academic degrees in Ecuador
Upon completing your program at MIU, you will be eligible to apply for your official U.S. degree. On this page, you will find information about the process for registering and, where applicable, obtaining recognition of your degree through MINEDEC in Ecuador.
Degree validation before the Ministry of Education (MINEDEC)
Official degrees from MIU City University Miami are fully eligible to be submitted for the validation and official registration process before the MINEDEC, following the guidelines and procedures established by said institution for international education.

What do I need to obtain my official degree from MIU City University Miami?
Below, we explain step by step the process to obtain your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from MIU City University Miami. Here you will find the requirements and the approximate timelines for your degree issuance. The process consists of 5 phases:
1. Degree request
- You must initiate the process after completing your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree through the Virtual Campus – Canvas.
- In the Registrar tab, select “Request Degree Issuance.”
- Your request will be set to Pending Validation.
2. Authorization period
Within approximately 15 business days, your request will be updated to Authorized.
From that moment, you can proceed with the payment of the corresponding fees.
3. Payment of fees
- Once your request is authorized, you will receive an email with available options to pay the degree fees.
- The email will include different payment methods, including a direct link to the banking platform to complete the payment securely.
- Ensure that your personal information is up to date, as all communications will be sent to the registered email and address.
- Follow the instructions on the payment platform until you receive payment confirmation.
- To avoid issues, do not close or go back during the process until successful payment is confirmed.
- Once the process is completed, the request status will be updated to Paid.
- If you pay via bank transfer or PayPal, you must send the proof of payment to registrar@miuniversity.edu.
Important: If the payment proof is not received by the Registrar’s office, your degree will not be processed.
4. Issuance of provisional degree certificate
Within a few weeks after payment confirmation, you will receive an email with a link to download your Official Digital Degree. This document carries the same official value as the original degree.
5. Issuance of official degree
The estimated timeline for the issuance of your official degree is approximately 4 months for diplomas without an apostille and 8 months for those requiring one, starting from the date of payment.
Once your diploma has been issued and verified, it will be shipped via UPS. You will receive an email containing your tracking number and instructions to monitor the shipment directly through the UPS portal. We kindly ask that you confirm receipt once the diploma has been delivered
