How Can I Join the Teaching Career Ladder? Steps and Requirements

Entry into the teaching career ladder in Ecuador is regulated by the LOEI and its regulations, through merit and opposition competitions organized by the Ministry of Education. The steps to follow are:

  1. Have a degree registered with SENESCYT, in education or a related field.
  2. Register in the Ministry of Education’s SIME system and submit your personal and academic information.
  3. Participate in the Merit and Opposition Competition, officially called by the Ministry.
  4. Take and pass the qualifying tests: psychometric and specific knowledge exams.
  5. If you are deemed eligible, you can apply for a teaching vacancy and obtain your official appointment.
  6. Once incorporated, you will become part of the teaching career ladder and can progressively advance based on your education, experience, and evaluations.

Category Promotion
