MIU City University Miami Earns Maximum 5-Star Rating, Placing It Among World’s Best Online Universities, According to QS Stars

MIU City University Miami has been awarded the highest rating by the prestigious British consultancy QS, confirming its place among the top online universities worldwide. This institution of higher education received five stars following a rigorous auditing process.

QS Stars’ highly demanding assessment criteria have made it one of the leading international standards for universities when it comes to auditing the excellence and superior quality of higher education institutions across on-campus, online, and hybrid (mixed model) learning formats.

To be assessed as a top university, MIU City University Miami successfully fulfilled every criterion required by QS Stars, including fully online programs that have produced graduates, online programs that result in accredited degrees, the use of a Learning Management System (LMS), and the provision of virtual access to library databases.

Social impact and employability

QS Stars audits online universities around the world, assigning scores across a variety of indicators including structure and standard of faculty instruction, online teaching methodology, student satisfaction, graduate employment rate, the institution’s reputation among employers, Governance, and Social Impact and Global Engagement. Academic development, diversity, and inclusion are also evaluated, among others.

As part of the scoring process, QS Stars also assesses whether universities offer scheduled one-on-one conversations between faculty and students, opportunities for students to meet instructors in person, live tutorials, and access to pre-recorded course videos. The systems used to evaluate faculty performance are also taken into account.

Additionally, the evaluation considers the availability of online forums and virtual discussion areas, access to an online alumni network, live chat support services, a formal policy for monitoring student participation, online events for students, virtual career fairs, and evidence of online collaboration between students in the programs.

Maximum rating for international online student experience

QS Stars rated the university as “Excellent,” granting it the highest mark of distinction. Its main strengths were in the categories of student services and technology, student interaction, international experience for online students, the institution’s commitment to students, and training for online learning.
